The University of Southern California offers undergraduate and masters degrees in film & production, critical studies, animation & digital arts and interactive media. For more advanced students, there is the prestigious American Film Institute, which has an affiliated conservatory that offers masters-level training in cinematography, producing, directing and editing.
Labor market statistics project that the producer and director sector will grow by 25% through to 2012. Cinematographers, camera operatives and video editors are projected to see an 18% increase, which is on par with the general job statistics for the region. Film industry worker flock to Los Angeles by the thousands, but all statistics seem to indicate that there is plenty more work available.
